Mission
Help responders make faster, clearer decisions in the field.
A² Perceptions exists to help public-safety teams perceive, share, and act on mission-critical information without pulling attention away from the environment in front of them.
Who we are
Located in Northern Virginia and veteran-owned, A² Perceptions sits in the middle of local SAR teams that operate throughout the state and near Washington, D.C., where public-safety experts, emergency managers, federal agencies, and technology leaders converge.
Mission
A² Perceptions exists to help public-safety teams perceive, share, and act on mission-critical information without pulling attention away from the environment in front of them.
Vision
Our vision is a wearable XR mission-awareness platform that turns routes, clues, teammate positions, sensor feeds, and uncertainty into shared spatial context that responders can trust and use.
Our story
A² Perceptions grew out of academic work from Virginia Tech University on shared perception, human-AI teaming, and XR systems for emergency response. Both founders met each other while doing research for their PhD and decided to team up. Their research asked a practical question: how can distributed responders see, share, and coordinate around the same mission context?
That question is now becoming a company. We are refining early research insights into commercial workflows for search and rescue first, with future public-safety applications across police, EMS, disaster response, and field command.
SAR teams operate across forests, mountains, trails, parks, rural areas, waterways, and urban edges throughout Virginia.
The Washington, D.C. region brings together public-safety practitioners, emergency managers, researchers, federal stakeholders, and technology partners.

Why here
Virginia includes mountain, forest, park, rural, and urban-edge search environments where team coordination and navigation matter.
The region connects public-safety expertise, emergency management, federal stakeholders, research institutions, and mission-focused technology partners.
Starting with SAR lets A² test a concrete mission need before expanding the same field-awareness loop to other public-safety teams.
Connect with A²
A² Perceptions welcomes conversations with SAR teams, public-safety professionals, emergency managers, researchers, and technology partners as we continue to define the right product path.
